Audition/Video
If overseas applicants can come to London for an audition then the normal application procedure will apply, see How to Apply. If attendance at a London or overseas audition is difficult an applicant may send a DVD or video in lieu of attending the initial audition. Please see Video Application for further details.
Overseas Auditions
We have previously auditioned applicants in Norway, USA, Japan, Australia and Spain.
We will be holding an audition on Sunday 3rd February 2013 in Oslo, Norway. For further information, please see our Auditions page here.
Visa Requirements
London Studio Centre does not currently hold a UKBA Tier 4 Sponsor’s licence in order to accept overseas students; we cannot therefore accept/audition any students who require a VISA to study in the UK.
We have received confirmation that the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has scheduled us for a Review for educational oversight during 2013/4.
Degree Programme:
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English must complete the British Council IELTS academic test at 6.5 or above (with minimum 6.0 in all four components) or show evidence of an equivalent level of achievement. Middlesex University also offers an Intensive Academic English course (Pre-Sessional) that ranges from 5-17 weeks, depending on your level of English. Successful completion of this course would normally meet English language entry requirements for London Studio Centre.
Academic Requirements
Previous Dance training is a prerequisite when applying for the BA Hons degree Theatre Dance. A-level dance is desirable but not essential. Initial selection is made on the basis of the application form and successful candidates will be invited to attend the first stage of the audition process. We normally ask for 280 A-Level UCAS Tariff points or an overall pass with Distinction at BTEC National Diploma. The minimum entrance requirements also include English Language and Maths and three other GCSE's grades A-C.
We realise applicants from the EU/Overseas do not take A-Levels, so please state on the application form the examinations you have completed or are due to complete e.g., Vitnemål, Apolytirion, Baccalaureate, listing the subjects you have studied (especially those in which you have specialised) and the grades you received or are predicted. For details regarding the entry requirements of a specific overseas examination please contact the Admissions & Registry Administrator.
If an overseas student whose formal education has been assessed in a language other than English has been successful in gaining a place on the course we will require a legal translation of the certification/documentation into English.
