APPLICATION
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All applicants to the Theatre Dance Course are required to attend an audition in order to assess their suitability for
a career in the theatre.
Degree Programme
Admission to the degree programme is by audition and applicants must normally be 18 or over before September 1st in
the year in which they enrol. However, consideration may be given to younger candidates with specific proficiency in dance.
Applicants must also have attained prior knowledge or skill equivalent to two A-levels and three other GCSE's.
Equivalence may be demonstrated by:
- BTec qualifications
- Five Scottish Certificate Education passes, three of which are at higher grades
- A foundation course recognised by University of the Arts London in lieu of A-levels.
Overseas applicants who wish to audition for the degree programme must have passed equivalent university entrance
examinations in their home country and must demonstrate proficiency in written English.
Diploma Programme and One Year Pre-Vocational Foundation Course
Admission to these programmes is by audition only and applicants must be aged 16 or over at the commencement of
the programme.
One Year Professional Diploma
Admission is by audition only and applicants normally would have completed a three year full-time vocational programme.
APPLICATION
Places on the course are limited. Application forms are available from the
Auditions' Administrator.. Forms should be
completed and returned to the Auditions' Administrator with the audition fee (cheques payable to London Studio Centre),
one recent passport sized photograph and one full length photograph in practice clothes. The candidate's name must be clearly
printed on the back of the photographs. The medical form does not need to be signed by the applicant's doctor at this stage. The audition fee is
non-refundable.
All applications must be received by 31 January in the year of entry. We are happy to receive applications from July of the
previous year of entry. To avoid disappointment, early application
is strongly recommended. Students who have graduated recently from other programmes and wish to apply for the One Year
Professional Programme must indicate for which Professional Option they are applying. These applicants are also encouraged
to apply as early as possible.
Potential applicants may visit London Studio Centre on Open Days which are held annually.
THE AUDITION
Auditions for the normal September entry are held from the preceding October to June. The candidates will be
notified of the audition date and procedure upon receipt of the completed application form, fee and enclosures.
The audition takes the form of assessment in technique classes and candidates may also be asked to attend an
interview with the Audition Panel. The Audition Panel then submit their recommendations to the Admissions Review
Board and the formal result of the audition is sent to each candidate by post. Parents, teachers or guardians are
most welcome to attend. For entry at other times please contact the
Auditions' Administrator.
OVERSEAS APPLICATIONS / AUDITIONS
If overseas applicants can come to London for an audition then the normal application procedure will apply.
An overseas applicant, for whom attendance at a London audition would be difficult, may contact the
Auditions' Administrator for alternative arrangements.
The Auditions' Administrator can also assist
foreign students with visas and accommodation.
