CORE SUBJECTS - Jazz Dance
 |
The London Studio Centre employs a very thorough system of jazz dance technique which has a proven track record of training professional dancers. It is based on the work of the pioneering American choreographer, Jack Cole.
The technique provides an exhaustive system of complex isolation exercises, which form a logical extension to a classical training; a dancer properly schooled in this technique acquires a high degree of co-ordination, together with the facility for analysing movement, which is an essential skill required for making rapid adjustment to the various styles encountered in the course of a professional career.
Isolation technique classes are obligatory for first year students, and there are also graded classes, up to professional standard, available throughout the three year course.
It is absolutely essential, in today's commercial dance world of ever more stringent budgets, for students to develop a facility for "picking up" steps very quickly, indeed. This requires practice, and to this end, the London Studio Centre offers numerous other jazz classes in a variety of styles. In addition, there are choreographic classes aimed at introducing students to the disciplines and pressures of professional rehearsals. |
