This 3-year course is designed for those students who have completed their A-levels (or equivalent qualifications) and wish to train as professional dancers in classical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz theatre dance or music theatre, in the context of a degree programme informed by the best current dance scholarship. Core training is enhanced and extended by contextual studies and options that support specialisation within a broad curriculum that values creation/choreography, performance and technical excellence. The course culminates in performance work presented in professional venues. Student support is available.
This course is validated by Middlesex University (new entrants from October 2011).
The weekly programme of this demanding course provides approximately 25 hours of professional training, regular performance opportunities supported by 5 hours of contextual studies, rehearsals and professional development. The standard week is Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Occasionally, some students may be required to attend rehearsals in the evenings.
